Yessica has been working with animals professionally for over 3 years. She relocated to Chattanooga just last year from Calhoun. Yessica’s favorite thing about working at CHAI is using Fear Free methods and being able to advocate for pets. She loves that CHAI does not push pets to do more than they’re comfortable with during a visit. Yessica’s favorite area of focus at CHAI is surgery and she’s also responsible for training new technicians. In her free time, she loves volunteering at Chattanooga Zoo and Compassion Copper Canyon. Being fluent in Spanish, Yessica is passionate about bridging the gap with Spanish-speaking clients and veterinary staff. She feels it’s very important that Spanish-speaking pet owners have the same access to high quality veterinary care and do not feel hindered by a language barrier.
At home, Yessica has three dogs named Teddy, Chappie (both Maltese mixes), and Rhino (a pit-bull) and one cat named Dulce. Yessica is currently planning to apply to vet school so we’re happy to have her at CHAI for as long as we can!
