Vaccinations & Titer Testing

Customized for Your Pet & Your Life

Which vaccines should your pet have? Core vaccines are those recommended—and possibly mandated by law—for most pets. Core vaccines include:

  • Rabies (dogs and cats)
  • DA2PPV – Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus 2, Parvo and Parainfluenza (dogs)
  • FVRCP – Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia (cats)

We recommend the Bordetella vaccine for dogs who frequent dog parks, boarding kennels, or any place where they socialize with other canines. For our outdoor kitties we recommend the FeLV, or Feline Leukemia vaccine for their protection.

Titer testing is also available to ensure your pet is only getting the vaccines that they need. A titer test measures the blood antibodies to a disease to show if a pet has adequate antibodies to prevent infection from the disease if they were to encounter it.

Even pets who live primarily indoors should be vaccinated, as they are still at risk of exposure to diseases from outside sources. Indoor pets can still come into contact with harmful pathogens through windows, other pets, or even on your clothing. Ensuring they receive the appropriate vaccinations protects them from potential illnesses. Additionally, keeping your pet’s vaccinations up to date contributes to a healthier home environment for your family. Your Chattanooga Holistic Animal Institute veterinarian can advise which vaccinations are required or recommended for your pet based on their age, health, and lifestyle.
