Health Screening Tests

At CHAI we offer many ways for you to stay on top of your pet’s health and ahead of any potential issues by offering a variety of health screening tests for Allergies, Cancer, and Microbiome Balance.

Cancer Screening

Like with many disease conditions, early detection of cancer can lead to early intervention and better outcomes. Since animals are good at hiding signs, those at higher risk of cancer should be watched for early signs that it may be developing, or the body has created an environment that leads to cancer development. Cancer Risk Assessments™ are good for all dogs and cats, however certain groups are more prone to cancer and should consider testing as part of their annual or bi-annual wellness exams.

Allergy Testing

Food intolerances and sensitivities are often the cause of many pet owner’s frustrations when trying to figure out what is wrong with their loved one. Using a saliva-based test that measures antibodies to 24 primary foods and a total of 112 related food ingredients in dog or cat saliva, with high antibody levels indicating a food sensitivity and intolerance to that food or foods, our Veterinarians are able to narrow down what may be causing the issues. For our patient’t that may be struggling with environmental allergies we offer a simple blood-based test that not only identifies what outside factors may be irritants but also can provide and allergy serum that can help assist your pet’s immune system to better handle them.

Microbiome Balance

Your pet’s gut microbiome is the foundation of good health and that occurs when there is a healthy balance between the good (helpful) and bad (potentially harmful) bacteria and yeast in their digestive system. In humans, clinical study has shown that 80% of the immune system is in the gut, and the majority of the body’s serotonin (“happy neurotransmitter”) is produced in the gut. We believe this is a similar situation with our four-legged friends. An unhealthy gut for your pet means that not only is their gut digestion unhealthy but so is their immune system. A non-functioning immune system means your pet may be more likely to get sick. Gut health can affect their immune system, energy levels, and even organ function – so achieving gut health will help to ensure a healthy, happy, and active life.
